Kokeshi Doll Cross Stitch & Crafting ADHD

Specialization is overrated.  At least, that’s what my brain says.  I’m totally addicted to learning new things, just ask my husband.  It’s official: I have Crafting ADHD.  In the past few years, I’ve learned more about crocheting and sewing than I ever knew before, have learned to hand weave, spin with a hand spindle, knit, cross stitch, and read about other fiber arts I’d love to get my hands on.  No, I’m definitely not an expert on any of it, nor do I ever expect to be.  I just love fiber and learning as many ways to work with it as possible.  And yes, I’d have sheep, alpacas, llamas, and rabbits if we lived on a farm.  My crafting goal in life has evolved to be: learn how to do as many fiber arts as possible and achieve at least an intermediate level of understanding and ability.  What is your crafting goal?  I’d love to hear it!

My mother-in-law gave me a large and complex cross stitch kit a few months back that she had gotten out west.  She finally decided/admitted that she would never sit down and do it, and she asked me if I would do it for her.  Sure!  I needed to brush up on my cross stitch since I had only ever done a little sheep and that was in elementary school.  I found an adorable Japanese Kokeshi doll pattern on the internet and proceeded to fall in love with yet another fiber art which I like to call painting with thread.  🙂  So, I hope you will give this sometimes looked-down-on craft a little love and try it out.  No farm animals required.
